PSEB SkillBridge Program 2026 | Hire Trained Apprentices with Stipend Support for Pakistani Startups

Published on

Pakistan Software Export Board has introduced a structured apprenticeship initiative under its SkillBridge Program, offering startups across the country a government-backed pathway to onboard trained talent with stipend support — a development that addresses one of the most persistent pain points for early and growth-stage ventures: building a team without burning through limited runway.

The SkillBridge Program, accessible through Pakistan Software Export Board’s TechDestination platform, allows registered companies to browse and select apprentices from a pool of trained candidates, with the financial burden of stipends partially absorbed through the programme’s backing. For startups operating in capital-constrained environments, the arrangement offers a way to expand headcount and operational capacity without taking on the full cost of conventional hiring.

The process for companies is straightforward. Startups begin by registering on the SkillBridge platform, followed by completing a programme registration to formally enroll as a participating employer. From there, companies can browse available apprentices and select candidates aligned with their specific functional needs whether in software development, product, operations, or other domains before proceeding to onboard them with Pakistan Software Export Board’s financial support in place.

The programme is positioned as particularly well-suited to early-stage startups that are scaling rapidly but cannot yet justify the fixed cost of full-time senior hires, as well as growth-stage companies looking to build out junior pipelines without assuming excessive payroll risk. Beyond the immediate cost benefit, the SkillBridge model also offers a longer-term advantage: companies that manage the apprenticeship well gain a repeatable internal hiring mechanism, converting proven apprentices into permanent team members over time.

Pakistan Software Export Board has been pushing talent development as a core pillar of its mandate to strengthen the country’s technology export base. Initiatives like SkillBridge sit at the intersection of workforce development and startup ecosystem support, creating a feedback loop where trained young professionals gain real industry exposure while companies access a pre-vetted pipeline of emerging talent.

Startups interested in participating can register directly on the TechDestination platform at skills.techdestination.com to begin the onboarding process.
