Jeff Bezos Nears $10 Billion Funding Round for AI Lab Project Prometheus at $38 Billion Valuation

Published on

Jeff Bezos is close to securing a massive $10 billion funding round for his artificial intelligence venture Project Prometheus, according to a Financial Times report. The deal, which is still under discussion, would value the startup at approximately $38 billion, placing it among the most heavily funded early-stage AI companies globally. The investment reflects the continued surge in capital flowing into advanced artificial intelligence platforms, particularly those targeting industrial and real-world applications.

The funding round is expected to include participation from major financial institutions such as JPMorgan and BlackRock, highlighting strong institutional interest in next-generation AI systems. While the discussions have progressed significantly, the deal has not yet been finalized. Investor appetite for artificial intelligence ventures remains high, with large-scale funding increasingly directed toward companies developing foundational AI infrastructure rather than consumer-facing applications alone.

Project Prometheus, co-founded by Jeff Bezos and scientist Vikram Bajaj, is focused on building “physical AI” systems designed to operate beyond digital environments. The startup is working on models that can interact with the physical world and support industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, automotive engineering, and advanced robotics. This approach differentiates it from traditional AI firms that primarily focus on language-based or software-driven models.

Launched in late 2025, the company initially raised $6.2 billion and has since expanded its technical teams by hiring talent from leading artificial intelligence organisations including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and xAI. The startup is also exploring strategies that combine AI development with industrial transformation, as global competition intensifies in the race to build scalable and applied artificial intelligence systems.
