NIC Karachi Campus Ambassador Hosts Cohort 16 Session at Habib University

Published on

NIC Karachi conducted an online induction and awareness session for students of Habib University, organised and led by Campus Ambassador Fateema Amin, as part of the ongoing outreach effort to introduce Cohort 16 to student communities across Karachi’s university landscape. The session introduced participants to the NIC Karachi ecosystem, its achievements since inception, and the specific opportunities available through Cohort 16, while also covering the broader mechanics of the startup journey, from how ideas are identified and validated through to how ventures evolve into scalable businesses with the support of a structured incubation environment.

The Campus Ambassador model that NIC Karachi has built represents a deliberate and efficient approach to university outreach that extends the incubator’s reach beyond what a central team conducting individual campus visits could achieve on its own. By identifying and supporting students within universities who have genuine enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and the credibility that comes from being a peer rather than an institutional representative, NIC Karachi creates a network of trusted advocates who can open conversations about incubation and startup building in a register that resonates more naturally with fellow students than formal institutional communications tend to. Fateema Amin’s initiative in organising and leading the Habib University session reflects exactly the kind of proactive engagement that makes the campus ambassador programme genuinely valuable rather than nominal.

The session’s content moved through several interconnected areas that together gave Habib University students a grounded introduction to what NIC Karachi offers and what the entrepreneurial path it supports actually looks like in practice. An overview of the NIC Karachi ecosystem and its track record gave students a concrete reference point for understanding what the incubation programme has produced and what kind of support it provides to the founders who move through it. The discussion of how startups evolve from early ideas into scalable businesses addressed the question that many aspiring entrepreneurs have but rarely see answered in an honest and sequential way, demystifying a process that can appear opaque from the outside. The question and answer session that followed gave students the opportunity to engage directly with the material in relation to their own ideas, uncertainties, and entrepreneurial interests, producing the kind of personalised and responsive exchange that pre-packaged presentations cannot replicate.

NIC Karachi’s Cohort 16 outreach, which has now included both in-person visits to NED University and online sessions at Habib University through the campus ambassador network, reflects a sustained and multi-channel effort to ensure that the next cohort draws from the full breadth of entrepreneurial talent available within Karachi’s universities rather than only those students who are already connected to the startup ecosystem through existing networks. Supported by Ignite and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication alongside partners including Tech Destination Pakistan, LMKT, LuckyOne Mall, and Orbit Ventures, NIC Karachi continues to invest in building the pipeline of future founders who will define the quality and character of its incubation community in the cohorts ahead.
