CEGA Launches Lahore Frames Animation Meetup and Showcase

Published on

CEGA is launching Lahore Frames, a new animation meetup positioned as a gathering point for animators, visual storytellers, and studio professionals looking to connect and share their work. The initiative addresses a gap in Pakistan’s creative technology scene, where animation professionals have historically had fewer dedicated community events compared to more established meetup formats in software development or general startup networking, giving this specific creative discipline a platform tailored to its own community.

As part of the launch, submissions are now open for the meetup’s main event showcase, inviting animators to submit short animations, reels, or short movies for consideration. This open submission format gives both established studio professionals and independent animators an equal opportunity to have their work considered, rather than limiting participation to invited or pre-selected creators, broadening the pool of talent the showcase draws from across Lahore’s animation community.

The showcase carries a notable incentive for participants, with the best-loved animations selected through the event set to be featured on HUM Channel, giving selected creators exposure through an established television platform rather than confining recognition to the event itself. This partnership with a mainstream broadcaster gives the showcase added weight for participating animators, offering a route to broader audience visibility beyond the immediate community attending the meetup.

The official launch event for Lahore Frames is scheduled for July 30, 2026, at CEGA’s premises in Lahore, with the event serving as both an introduction to the initiative and a gathering point for the animation and visual storytelling community the meetup is intended to serve. The event is supported by Ignite National Technology Fund and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, continuing the pattern of public sector backing behind CEGA’s creative technology programming. Interested participants can register through cega.com.pk ahead of the launch event.
