TiE Visits Multipurpose Center At Frontier College Peshawar

Published on

Team TiE conducted a monitoring visit to the Multipurpose Center established at Frontier College Peshawar as part of ongoing work under D4WEE, a programme aimed at expanding access to digital learning, skills and economic opportunities for women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The visit gave the team direct, on ground insight into how the centre is functioning in practice, allowing them to assess the programme’s progress against its intended goals for the women it is meant to serve.

The Multipurpose Center itself represents a physical space dedicated to building digital capacity among women in the region, offering a location where participants can access training and resources aimed at strengthening their digital literacy and broader economic prospects. Establishing dedicated physical infrastructure of this kind reflects an approach that goes beyond purely online or short term training initiatives, instead creating a sustained local presence that participants can return to as they build their skills over time.

D4WEE operates with support from UN Women Pakistan and KOICA, the Korea International Cooperation Agency, giving the programme backing from both a United Nations entity focused specifically on women’s empowerment and a bilateral development agency working on international cooperation initiatives. This combination of international institutional support reflects the kind of multilateral backing often required to sustain longer term digital inclusion programmes targeting underserved regions and populations.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with consortium partners Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation and Code for Pakistan, bringing together organisations with different areas of expertise spanning community development and civic technology. This combination of partners suggests D4WEE is designed to address both the technical and community engagement dimensions required to make digital skills training genuinely accessible and relevant to women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rather than relying on a single organisational approach.

TiE’s monitoring visit to the Frontier College Peshawar centre adds to the ongoing implementation of D4WEE across the province, with the programme continuing to build what its backers describe as the foundations for a more digitally inclusive future for women across KP. Visits of this kind allow the consortium partners to track the practical outcomes of the Multipurpose Center model as it continues to operate and potentially expand to additional locations across the region.
