NIC Karachi Hosts Cybersecurity Session for FinTech Applications on August 31

Published on

NIC Karachi will host a Primary Track curriculum session titled Security in FinTech, Cybersecurity for FinTech Applications, scheduled for Monday, the thirty first of August, at three in the afternoon at NIC Karachi. The session will feature Syed Alay Raza, Chief Information Security Officer and Group Head of Information Security at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, addressing a critical dimension of FinTech product development that founders often overlook in the early stages of building their platforms.

The session will help founders understand the fundamentals of cybersecurity in FinTech, identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, and begin integrating essential security measures into their product development process. This foundational approach reflects the reality that security considerations are often most effective when built into a product from the ground up, rather than added as an afterthought once a platform has already scaled and accumulated a larger user base.

Raza’s role as CISO and Group Head of Information Security at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank gives him direct experience navigating the security requirements of a licensed digital banking institution, positioning him to speak to both the theoretical frameworks around cybersecurity and the practical, regulatory realities FinTech founders eventually need to address as their products mature and attract regulatory attention.

Participants will explore practical approaches to protecting sensitive data, strengthening application security, and building user trust, described as essential foundations for developing secure and resilient FinTech solutions. This combination of technical security practices alongside the trust building dimension reflects a broader understanding that cybersecurity in financial products is not purely a technical concern but also directly tied to user confidence and adoption.

The event is supported by Tech Destination Pakistan, Ministry Of IT and Telecommunication, Ignite National Technology Fund, LMKT, LuckyOne Mall, and Orbit Ventures, reflecting the institutional network tied to NIC Karachi’s Cohort 16 programming. Those interested in attending can register through the link shared as part of the announcement at https://lnkd.in/dX2bGgsy, with the session adding to NIC Karachi’s continued effort to prepare FinTech founders for the security and regulatory realities of building within Pakistan’s financial services sector.
