NIC Islamabad’s Founder Institute Cohort 5 founders stepped into the Investor Progress Review, a two day experience designed to help them assess their progress through an investor’s lens. The format gave founders a structured opportunity to evaluate their ventures with the same rigour and criteria typically applied by actual investors, rather than relying solely on internal or peer feedback.

Each founder presented their venture in a five minute investor-style session, followed by mentor questions, scoring, and strategic feedback. This time constrained format mirrors the reality many founders eventually face when pitching to real investors, where the ability to communicate a venture’s value concisely often determines whether a conversation continues beyond the initial meeting.

The review challenged founders to look beyond what they have built so far and evaluate the strength of their product, market opportunity, business model, and overall readiness for future fundraising. This comprehensive evaluation framework pushed founders to assess their ventures across multiple dimensions simultaneously, rather than focusing narrowly on product development alone without considering the broader commercial viability of their business.

More than an evaluation, the session gave founders an opportunity to identify gaps, gain valuable insights from experienced mentors, and understand what needs to be strengthened as they continue building their ventures. This developmental framing positions the Investor Progress Review as a formative exercise intended to guide founders’ subsequent work, rather than purely serving as a pass or fail assessment.
