Two startups from National Incubation Center Peshawar’s Cohort 16, Smart Helmet and Rawan, represented their innovations at LEAP 2026 in Saudi Arabia, extending the reach of Peshawar’s startup ecosystem well beyond its usual regional footprint. For startups incubated outside Pakistan’s largest commercial hubs, an international platform of this scale offers a level of exposure that domestic events, however well organized, typically cannot replicate, giving founders direct access to global investors, technology partners, and industry peers operating at a different scale than what is available locally.
At the event, the two startups explored emerging technologies and connected with the global tech ecosystem, engaging with the kind of international audience that Peshawar based ventures rarely encounter through domestic programming alone. Smart Helmet’s presence suggests hardware and safety technology innovation coming out of a region historically associated more with textile, agriculture, and services businesses than with technical product development, while Rawan’s participation points to the increasingly diverse range of sectors represented within NIC Peshawar’s incubation cohorts.
NIC Peshawar framed the LEAP 2026 appearance around what genuine international exposure actually looks like in practice, describing it in terms of new markets, meaningful connections, and bigger opportunities rather than treating international travel itself as the accomplishment. This framing reflects a broader shift among Pakistan’s incubation centers toward measuring international participation by the concrete relationships and market access it generates, rather than by attendance alone, a distinction that matters increasingly as more Pakistani institutions send startups to major international events.
The LEAP 2026 appearance adds to NIC Peshawar’s growing record of Cohort 16 activity this year, which has spanned curriculum sessions on topics ranging from sales funneling to women’s entrepreneurship, alongside community programming such as its Climate Jirga and ongoing InvestLab series. The center continues to be supported by institutional partners including Ignite, LMKR, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, LMKT, and Orbit Startups, along with academic and industry collaborators such as Sybrid, IM Sciences, Rehman Medical Institute, CECOS University, and Frontier Platinum.
