SEIC welcomed Agha Sohail, Secretary of the Science and IT Department, during his visit to the facility, giving the incubator a chance to engage directly with a senior public sector official overseeing science and technology policy in Sindh. The visit gave Sohail an opportunity to engage with the SEIC team, explore the entrepreneurial ecosystem taking shape at the facility, and gain insights into the initiatives currently supporting emerging startups and innovators moving through the incubator’s programmes.
A visit from a sitting Secretary carries weight beyond a typical courtesy call, since it signals direct engagement from the provincial government with the day to day realities of running an incubation programme rather than only encountering the ecosystem through reports or policy briefings. For SEIC, the opportunity to walk a senior official through its facility and introduce him to the founders and initiatives it supports offers a chance to build familiarity at the highest levels of Sindh’s Science and IT Department.
SEIC framed the visit as reflecting the importance of building closer ties between the public sector, technology and entrepreneurship, aimed at creating an environment where promising ideas can develop into ventures with real impact. Visits of this kind often lay the groundwork for future policy support or institutional backing, even when no formal announcement accompanies the visit itself, since officials who have seen an incubator’s work firsthand tend to carry that understanding into later decisions affecting the sector.
SEIC expressed interest in continuing to build meaningful connections that contribute to a more dynamic startup ecosystem going forward. The facility continues to operate with support from SITD Government of Sindh, Sapphire Consulting Services and Hum Network, and Sohail’s visit adds to the incubator’s ongoing effort to keep provincial government stakeholders closely connected to the work happening on the ground with Sindh’s emerging founders.
