Pakistani AgriTech Startup Farmevo Plans New York Headquarters and US Expansion

Published on

Farmevo Technologies, a Pakistani agricultural technology startup, is expanding into North and Latin American markets and plans to establish its headquarters in New York, marking a significant step for a company that began on a 300-acre farm outside Karachi. The startup raised $2.5 million from New York-based Gutter Capital in 2025 and already has a presence in the US, Canada and Latin America, giving it an established footprint in these markets ahead of the planned headquarters relocation.

Founded in 2024 by Ali Fawad, Habab Idress and Rana Waqar, Farmevo develops software that uses low-cost drones to autonomously survey farmland and convert aerial imagery into actionable alerts. The company was built to address an information gap on large farms, where crop stress, weeds and diseases can often go unnoticed until they cause significant losses, a problem that becomes more acute as farm sizes grow and manual monitoring becomes impractical. Its first major client was Corteva Agriscience, which used the technology to detect anomalies affecting seed purity in its fields, and the company’s client roster has since grown to include BASF Agricultural Solutions, Bayer CropScience and McCain Foods.

Fawad told Dawn that the firm’s revenue increased more than tenfold between 2024 and 2025, a growth trajectory that has come alongside the company expanding to enterprise clients in three countries and a workforce of more than 30 people spanning engineering, research, sales and field operations. Last year, Farmevo launched SylvaSense, a platform for forest surveying, which has since grown to account for nearly half of the company’s revenue. Foresters using SylvaSense have reported reducing survey times by up to 40 percent and costs by up to 30 percent compared with manual ground surveys, giving the platform a concrete efficiency case that has evidently resonated strongly with its target customers.

The startup is now looking to move beyond drones and develop software that can serve as the operating intelligence for autonomous robots, betting that robots will become increasingly affordable and widespread in the coming years in much the same way drones have. The company’s longer-term ambition is to provide the software “brain” that enables robots to perform specialized tasks, starting in agriculture and forestry before expanding into other applications, positioning Farmevo’s current drone and forest surveying businesses as a foundation for a broader robotics software platform rather than an end point in themselves.
