Strong startups need more than strong ideas, they need teams that can grow together, and Idea Launch built its latest workshop around exactly that premise. Over a two-day, hands-on workshop on Building Effective Teams, Muhammad T. Ali, COO at Bookme.pk, worked directly with Idea Launch founders to explore what it actually takes to build, manage and grow a functioning startup team rather than simply assembling a group of capable individuals.
The sessions covered a wide range of practical ground, from defining roles and KPIs to aligning co-founder expectations, navigating friction and making thoughtful hiring decisions. These are areas that many early-stage founders tend to learn through trial and error, often at considerable cost to morale or momentum, making a structured, dedicated workshop on team dynamics a valuable addition to the usual focus on product and market fit that dominates most early-stage founder training.
Founders also explored how culture is built through everyday actions rather than formal policies or mission statements, and how early team choices can shape a venture’s long-term growth trajectory. This framing pushes founders to think about culture as something actively constructed through daily decisions and interactions, rather than something that simply emerges on its own as a company scales.
Ali’s background as COO at Bookme.pk gave the workshop a grounded, operational perspective, drawing on firsthand experience managing teams within a growing Pakistani company rather than offering only theoretical frameworks. The two-day format allowed founders enough time to work through these concepts in depth, reflecting Idea Launch’s broader approach of pairing its founders with experienced operators who can speak directly to the practical realities of building and running a startup team.
