NIC Faisalabad Meets Islamic Development Bank on Startup Funding Support

Published on

NIC Faisalabad held a meeting with the Country Field Representative for Pakistan of the Islamic Development Bank to explore opportunities for collaboration and greater support for the startup ecosystem. The meeting brought a senior representative from one of the world’s major multilateral development institutions directly into conversation with a regional Pakistani incubator, opening a channel that could eventually connect NIC Faisalabad’s startups with a much larger pool of international development financing.

The discussion covered potential avenues for technical assistance, grant funding, equity financing, and closer linkages between NICF, multilateral development banks, and international development organizations. Covering this range of financing mechanisms in a single conversation signals that both sides were exploring the full spectrum of what a relationship with IsDB could look like, rather than limiting the discussion to one narrow type of support such as grants alone.

Multilateral development banks like IsDB typically bring resources and credibility that domestic funding sources cannot always match, particularly for startups working in sectors aligned with development priorities such as agriculture, health or financial inclusion. For NIC Faisalabad’s startups, a formal relationship with IsDB could open doors to funding structured differently than typical venture capital, often with longer time horizons and a stronger focus on measurable development outcomes alongside commercial viability.

The engagement is a step toward creating more effective pathways for NICF startups to access funding, technical expertise, strategic collaborations, and global networks as they work toward building and scaling their ventures. NIC Faisalabad continues to receive support from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan and Ignite National Technology Fund as it works to formalize this emerging relationship with the Islamic Development Bank.
