The Business Incubation Center at the University of Peshawar held the first session of its Cohort 3 programme on Thursday, October 8, 2026, opening the six-month incubation journey with a module on Founder Mindset and Team. The session sits within Phase 1 of the programme, titled Foundation and Discovery, and was led by mentor Subash Chandra. Coming only days after the cohort’s orientation, it marks the point where the newly selected startups moved from receiving information about the programme to actually working through its content, beginning with the idea that the journey of building a startup starts with building the right foundation.
Founders spent the session exploring the mindset, habits, resilience and teamwork needed to carry a venture through the six months ahead and beyond. The session focus covered six areas: founder mindset, habits and resilience, roles and decision-making within a founding team, equity splits and founder agreements, setting measurable six-month goals, business values and trust, and team collaboration and accountability. Placing equity and agreement discussions at the very start of the programme reflects a recognition that disputes over ownership, responsibility and control are among the most common reasons early teams come apart, and that they are far easier to settle before a venture has revenue or investor attention to argue over.
The programme has been laid out as a progression from starting the journey, to building the foundation, to developing founders and teams, and Session 01 serves as the first step along that path. Rather than treating team dynamics as a soft topic to be addressed later, BIC has placed it at the front of the curriculum, ahead of product and market work. That ordering suggests the incubator sees the quality of a founding team as the thing most likely to determine whether a venture survives its first year, and wants each cohort to settle questions of roles, decision rights and mutual expectations before anything else.
The session was also practical in its outcomes. Each team began shaping its six-month goals and defining how its members will work together as they move forward, leaving the session with concrete targets rather than general advice. Setting measurable goals at the outset gives both founders and mentors a clear benchmark against which to judge progress at later stages of the incubation period. With Session 01 complete, Cohort 3 now continues through the remainder of Phase 1, while the Business Incubation Center at the University of Peshawar carries on building a pipeline of startups from the province that began its life as a university-based initiative.
