NIC Hyderabad Takes Entrepreneurship And Creative Economy Session To Textile Design Students In Jamshoro

Published on

The team of National Incubation Center Hyderabad has visited the Department of Textile Design at Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University of Art, Design and Heritages in Jamshoro for an outreach session on entrepreneurship and the creative economy. The session introduced students to the possibility of turning their ideas and skills into ventures of their own. It covered the incubator’s role in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, the guidance and resources available through its incubation programme, and the chance to join the upcoming cohort.

The team argued that for emerging textile designers the possibilities go beyond creating the next collection. Designers can build independent brands, develop innovative textile products, explore new uses for traditional crafts or find gaps in the market that their ideas can address. Sindh has a long tradition of textile crafts, including ajrak, embroidery and block printing, and many of these skills are practised in small workshops and households with little business support. The incubator’s point was that entrepreneurship helps creatives take their ideas beyond the concept stage and explore what it takes to build something sustainable around them.

The university is a public institution in Jamshoro, established in 2020 under the Government of Sindh, and its programmes include textile design, fashion design, architecture, fine arts, communication design and product design. Visiting its textile design department gives the incubator a chance to reach students whose work sits at the intersection of art, craft and commerce, a group that does not usually think of incubators as a place for them.

National Incubation Center Hyderabad is the sixth national incubation centre set up by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Ignite National Technology Fund, and it is run by PTCL and LMKT. It has incubated more than 200 startups and offers workspace, mentorship, training and legal and compliance support. Details of the upcoming cohort, including the opening date and the application process, are available through the official channels of the incubator.
