EKKO Secures Neuro Transmission Cognitive Theory Rights As National Incubation Center Islamabad Celebrates Milestone

Published on

The National Incubation Center Islamabad has announced an important milestone for EKKO, one of its incubated startups, which has formalized the transfer of rights to the Neuro Transmission Cognitive Theory from its innovator, Dr. Shahbaz Ranjha. The agreement places the theory, which underpins the company’s core technology, firmly within the startup and gives EKKO clear ownership over the scientific idea on which its product is built. The center celebrated the development as a significant achievement for the company and for the incubation program that has supported its growth, noting that the step moves the startup closer to both commercialization and clinical validation.

EKKO is building a non-invasive vibrostimulation technology designed to support speech rehabilitation and neurological therapy. Technologies in this space depend heavily on the strength of their scientific and legal footing, since a startup working in health technology must be able to show who owns the underlying idea before it can seek investment, enter commercial agreements, or move into formal clinical studies. By bringing the rights to the Neuro Transmission Cognitive Theory under the company, EKKO has resolved a question that often slows early stage medical technology ventures, and it has strengthened the intellectual property base on which every later stage of development will rest. The transfer from an individual innovator to a company is also a common sign that a research idea is maturing into a product with a defined path to market.

The achievement reflects the combined efforts of several people who have contributed to the startup and its progress. Ismail Nasir, Dr. Usman Akram, and Dr. Aliya Ashraf Khan were named by the center for their collaborative work, which supports the advancement of health technology and medical technology innovation in Pakistan. Their involvement points to the mix of engineering, clinical, and academic expertise that ventures of this kind need in order to move from a promising concept to a tested therapy. Dr. Shahbaz Ranjha, as the originator of the theory, holds a central place in the story, and his decision to formalize the handover gives the company the stability it needs to plan its next phase with confidence.

The National Incubation Center Islamabad congratulated EKKO on the achievement and described it as a contribution to the growing health technology and medical technology ecosystem in Pakistan. The center operates with the backing of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Ignite National Technology Fund, which support a network of incubation centers across the country that help early stage founders turn technical ideas into companies. For EKKO, the next steps are clinical validation of its vibrostimulation approach and progress toward bringing the product to the patients who could benefit from it. For the wider ecosystem, the milestone offers an example of a Pakistani innovation moving from the laboratory toward the market with its intellectual property secured and a clear direction ahead.
