Kamran Khan Takes The Karachi Frames Stage To Share Lessons From Animated Feature Trilogy

Published on

Kamran Khan will take the main stage at Karachi Frames to share lessons from more than 20 years in animation, in a session built around a question the organizers pose directly: what does it take to make Pakistan’s first animated feature trilogy, and what does that journey say about the industry today? The talk is set for Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the NED Main Auditorium in Karachi, and sign up is free. The session is part of the Frame Talks series and offers students, artists, and studio owners a chance to hear from someone who has built long form animation inside Pakistan.

Kamran Khan is the founder of Final Act Animation and serves as Head of Production for Animation and Artificial Intelligence at SOC Films. His selected credits include the 3 Bahadur trilogy, described as Pakistan’s first 3D animated feature films, and Sitara: Let Girls Dream, Pakistan’s first Netflix Original animated short. He has also worked on Team Muhafiz and on Ajwan for MBC Shahid. Together these projects span feature films, a short for a global streaming service, and series work for a regional platform, which gives him a broad view of how animation is produced, financed, and distributed from Pakistan.

The subject carries weight for the local industry. Producing a single animated feature is a demanding task that requires large teams, long schedules, and steady funding, and building a trilogy adds the challenge of keeping a story, a team, and an audience together across several films. Pakistani studios have more often produced commercials, short content, and outsourced work than original feature length stories, so a trilogy made at home stands out as a milestone. The organizers are asking what that experience reveals about the strengths and gaps of the sector, including talent, tools, financing, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in animation production.

Those who wish to attend can sign up for free ahead of the October 27 session. Karachi Frames brings animation talent together in a university setting, which makes the main auditorium at NED a fitting location for students who are considering careers in the field. For young animators, hearing directly from a professional with two decades of experience can clarify what skills studios look for, how projects move from concept to release, and how a career can grow from small commissions to feature films. For established studios, the session offers a view of the practical lessons behind a landmark local production and a prompt to think about what the next stage of Pakistani animation might require.
