Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs and Accelerate Prosperity are hosting the second session of their Bring Your Own Insights webinar series, titled Creativity as an Economic Engine, examining how the creative economy is emerging as a genuine driver of growth across Central and South Asia rather than remaining confined to artistic expression alone. Framing creativity explicitly as an economic force, rather than a cultural or social good adjacent to economic activity, positions the sector as deserving the same structured attention typically reserved for more conventional industries like manufacturing or technology.
The session will explore how the region’s culture-driven creative economy is powering jobs, opening new entrepreneurial pathways, and contributing to inclusive growth, treating creative work as a legitimate source of livelihood generation rather than a secondary activity pursued alongside more traditional employment. This framing matters particularly for Central and South Asia, where informal creative and craft economies have long existed without the institutional recognition, financing pathways, or policy support that more formally categorized industries receive.
The webinar will also examine how policy is evolving to support the sector’s rise, acknowledging that creative economy growth ultimately depends on more than entrepreneurial energy alone, requiring regulatory and institutional frameworks capable of recognizing creative work as a legitimate economic category worth deliberate cultivation. This policy dimension distinguishes the session from a purely inspirational discussion of creative entrepreneurship, grounding the conversation in the structural conditions that determine whether creative economies can scale sustainably or remain permanently informal and undercapitalized.
