CEGA, the Centre of Excellence in Gaming and Animation operating under Ignite and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, has opened registrations for its August training programme, offering six industry-led courses at zero cost to participants across gaming, animation, and creative technology disciplines. The courses are available in both on-site and online formats and cover Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, Unity 3D, Unreal Engine, and 3D Animation, spanning the full range of skills that professionals need to enter and progress within Pakistan’s growing gaming and creative technology industry. Seats are limited and applications are open at lnkd.in/dPP7C58z.
The six courses together map the professional pipeline of the gaming and animation industry from its earliest creative stages through to the technical production and rendering skills that studios and creative technology companies hire for. Pre-Production covers the conceptual and planning foundations of any creative project, where story, design, and visual language are established before production begins. Production and Post-Production address the active creation and refinement phases that follow, covering the workflows and tools that determine the quality and efficiency of the finished output. Unity 3D and Unreal Engine are two of the most widely used real-time development environments in the global gaming industry, and proficiency in either is a practical prerequisite for most game development roles, making their inclusion in CEGA’s free training programme a direct investment in making Pakistani talent competitive for the kinds of roles that global studios and game companies hire for. The 3D Animation course addresses the discipline that underpins character performance, visual effects, and cinematic quality across both games and animated content, a skill set with applications across gaming, film, advertising, and the growing market for real-time 3D content.
The 100 percent free cost of the programme, combined with the certificate of completion that participants receive upon successfully finishing a course, removes two of the most significant barriers that typically prevent aspiring gaming and animation professionals from accessing industry-level training in Pakistan. The cost of comparable private training programmes in these disciplines, particularly for software such as Unity and Unreal Engine where the depth of instruction required to reach professional competency is significant, can be prohibitive for students and early-career professionals who would benefit most from the training but cannot absorb the financial cost alongside the time investment the courses require. CEGA’s programme addresses that barrier directly, treating the development of Pakistan’s gaming and creative technology talent as a public good that justifies institutional subsidy rather than a commercial service to be priced at market rates.
The availability of both on-site and online formats expands the programme’s geographic reach beyond the cities where CEGA’s physical campuses in Lahore and Karachi are located, giving aspiring gaming and animation professionals from across Pakistan access to the same quality of industry-led training that their counterparts in the two largest cities can attend in person. For a sector where much of the actual work is done remotely and where the tools being learned are software-based rather than location-dependent, the online format is not a compromise but a genuinely equivalent learning experience that removes the last remaining geographic barrier to participation.
