The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development at DHA Suffa University is organizing the Built in Karachi Challenge 2026, a startup challenge for Pakistan’s youth, on November 28 and 29 at the university in Karachi. Registration is completely free, and participants can take part in a hybrid format, either online or in person. The challenge invites young innovators to showcase their ideas, get expert feedback, build industry connections and compete for the winning prize.
The competition is organized into five categories that reflect areas of national and regional need. These are artificial intelligence, digital and emerging technologies; climate resilience, disaster risk reduction and sustainable infrastructure; agricultural technology, food systems and rural development; health technology, biotechnology and inclusive healthcare; and blue economy, maritime and logistics innovation. The last category fits Karachi’s position as the country’s main port city, while the others cover problems that affect communities across the country, from floods and food supply to access to healthcare.
Alongside the main prize, the challenge offers special category awards. These include the Best Innovative Idea Award, the Best Sustainable Development Goals Idea Award and a special award recognizing women entrepreneurs. Every participant will also receive an electronic certificate. The hybrid option lets students and founders from other cities join without traveling, which widens the pool of ideas the organizers can draw on and reduces the cost of taking part, a point that matters for young entrepreneurs with limited funds.
Interested participants can register for the challenge here before the event. The center, which runs programs and competitions for student founders at the university, has presented the challenge as a way for young people to turn their innovations into ventures with guidance from experts and exposure to industry. With two days of activity planned and five categories open to entries, the Built in Karachi Challenge is set to bring together a wide mix of student projects and early stage startups from across Pakistan.
