EcoMuhafiz, a Hatch 8 Cohort 6 startup, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aman Innovatia to deploy acoustic monitoring technology driven by artificial intelligence in the Karore and Chontra forest regions. The startup’s solar powered devices are designed to listen to the forest day and night, with artificial intelligence running directly on each device deep inside the forest. The agreement moves the technology from development toward use in the field.
The devices serve three purposes. They detect illegal logging the moment it begins and alert forest staff in real time. They listen to birds and wildlife to map the life that the forests hold and to track how it changes over time. They also read the weather to warn of fire risk before a fire spreads. Running the artificial intelligence on the device means that detection does not depend on a constant connection to remote servers, a practical advantage in forests where network coverage is limited. The founders say that Pakistan loses forests every year in silence, because no one hears the chainsaw and no one sees a tree fall until it is too late.
Aman Innovatia will support the deployment, open doors to forest and wildlife departments, universities and conservation organizations, link tree plantation with protection through its One Tree app, and guide the science through its bioacoustics initiative, known as TAYAR. This support covers much of what a young hardware startup finds hard to obtain alone, including access to the departments that manage forests and the scientific guidance needed to interpret the sounds collected. Linking planting to protection also addresses a gap in many tree planting drives, where saplings are planted but not safeguarded afterward.
The company is led by Founder and Chief Executive Officer Anosha Zia, together with cofounders Aniqa Gulraiz and Aqsa Sarfraz, and the team built every device by hand. Zia thanked Asim Mushtaq and Aman Innovatia for sharing the vision. Karore and Chontra are described as only the beginning, with the founders imagining a Pakistan in which every forest is heard, every tree planted is also protected, and communities, governments and technology guard nature together.
