The Business Incubation Center at Fatima Jinnah Women University has advanced to the next stage of the Punjab Youth Innovation and Incubation Competition 2026, following the completion of its internal evaluation round. The centre reported an overwhelming response from students, with a total of 111 applications submitted for the competition, reflecting significant interest in entrepreneurship and innovation among the university’s student body.
Of the applications received, 102 were validated as eligible startups following an initial screening process, and 56 innovative projects have now been shortlisted to move forward to the next round of the competition. The internal evaluation was led by the Internal Evaluation Committee under the direction of Dr Hashaam Akhtar, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization, whose team was credited with conducting a rigorous review process aimed at maintaining a merit based selection standard throughout the evaluation.
The shortlisted teams are now set to take part in a University Level Pitching Competition scheduled for August 10, 2026, where the innovators will present their ideas to a multidisciplinary panel made up of experts drawn from government, academia and industry. Presenting to a panel spanning these different sectors gives participating students exposure to a broader range of evaluative perspectives than a single discipline focused panel might offer, potentially helping shortlisted teams refine how they communicate their ideas to different types of stakeholders.
FJWU-BIC’s participation in the Punjab Youth Innovation and Incubation Competition reflects a broader pattern of university incubation centres across Punjab using structured, multi stage competitions to identify and support promising student led ventures, moving from a large initial applicant pool through progressively more selective rounds before reaching a final pitching stage. The scale of interest shown by FJWU’s students, with 111 initial applications narrowed down through a formal screening and evaluation process, points to a growing appetite for entrepreneurship among students at the university.
With the university level pitching round now scheduled for later this month, the 56 shortlisted teams are expected to spend the coming days refining their presentations ahead of facing the multidisciplinary panel, as FJWU-BIC continues to position itself as an active contributor to Punjab’s broader youth innovation and incubation ecosystem.
