Founder Institute is set to host a session on Legal and Equity at National Incubation Center Faisalabad, scheduled for Thursday, the twenty seventh of August, running from two until four in the afternoon via Google Meet. The session will bring together Darakhshan Sheikh Vohra, Chief Legal Officer at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank, and Osama Sadoon Memon, a Barrister at Law, to share practical insights on the legal side of building and scaling a startup.
The session is built around the premise that building a startup involves decisions that shape its future, with legal and equity decisions ranked among the most important choices founders make. This framing positions the session as addressing a foundational area of startup development that can have long lasting consequences if handled poorly during a company’s early stages, particularly around ownership structures that become difficult to unwind once established.
The curriculum will cover understanding equity and ownership, navigating legal structures, and making informed decisions across these areas, giving founders exposure to both the conceptual frameworks and practical considerations involved in structuring their startups from a legal standpoint. This combination of equity and legal structure content addresses two closely related but distinct challenges founders typically face when formalising their businesses.
Vohra’s background as Chief Legal Officer at Raqami Islamic Digital Bank brings a corporate legal perspective to the session, given her experience navigating compliance and governance requirements within a licensed financial institution. Memon’s role as a Barrister at Law complements this with a more direct legal practice perspective, potentially offering founders insight into common legal pitfalls and considerations relevant to structuring a startup correctly from the outset.
The session is supported by Ministry Of IT and Telecommunication and Ignite National Technology Fund, continuing the pattern of institutional backing behind Founder Institute’s ongoing cohort based training activities at NIC Faisalabad. The Legal and Equity session adds to the centre’s broader series of practical, expert led sessions aimed at equipping founders with the essential knowledge needed to build a stronger legal and ownership foundation as their startups grow.
