Global South Innovation And Investment Summit 2026 Kicks Off In Pakistan

Published on

The Global South Innovation and Investment Summit 2026 opened its first day in Pakistan, bringing together policymakers, innovators, industry leaders and the visiting CCAC delegation for a day of discussion centred on the technology ecosystem across the Global South. The summit is hosted by Pathfinder CITADEL in collaboration with OIC COMSTECH, positioning the event as a platform for dialogue between countries in the Global South on questions of innovation, investment and technology driven growth.

Day 1 of the summit featured a series of keynote addresses and panel discussions covering innovation, investment, technology partnerships and cross border collaboration. Speakers and delegates used the sessions to explore how countries across the Global South can work together more closely on shared technology priorities, ranging from early stage innovation support to the kind of investment structures needed to help ventures scale beyond their home markets. The presence of the CCAC delegation added an international dimension to the proceedings, with participants describing the day as an opportunity to exchange perspectives on how different regions are approaching innovation policy and cross border partnership building.

OIC COMSTECH’s involvement as co host reflects its long standing role in coordinating scientific and technological cooperation among member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and its participation in the summit places the event within a broader pattern of multilateral engagement on science and technology issues affecting developing economies. Pathfinder CITADEL, for its part, has positioned the summit as part of its wider mandate to connect Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem with international partners, building on its existing work supporting startups and entrepreneurs through mentorship and incubation programmes.

Discussions on Day 1 also touched on the practical mechanics of technology partnerships and investment flows between countries in the Global South, an area participants noted remains underdeveloped relative to the scale of opportunity present across these markets. Delegates pointed to the need for clearer frameworks around cross border investment and knowledge sharing as a way of helping innovation ecosystems in different countries learn from one another rather than developing in isolation. The opening day’s sessions were framed as laying groundwork for the discussions expected to follow over the remainder of the summit, with organisers indicating that subsequent days will build on the themes introduced during the keynote addresses and panels.

The summit’s focus on the Global South comes at a time when countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America are increasingly seeking to coordinate on technology policy and investment strategy independent of traditional centres of innovation funding. Organisers of the Global South Innovation and Investment Summit 2026 said the event is intended to contribute to that shift by giving policymakers and innovators a shared venue for direct dialogue. Further sessions and highlights from the summit are expected to be shared as the event continues.
