GLOBE Pakistan Business Clinics Connect Startups With Trade Institutions

Published on

GLOBE Pakistan’s second edition brought together the practical machinery of trade facilitation under one roof through its Business Clinics, built around the idea that an exporter should not have to chase six institutions across six cities over six months to resolve a single problem. Inaugurated by chief guest Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, the clinics ran for five and a half hours, structured deliberately around one on one consultations rather than the panel presentations that typically dominate trade and export events, giving each participating business direct, focused time rather than a passive seat in an audience.

The questions businesses brought to the clinics were practical and specific to each company’s actual stage and sector, spanning company registration, customs procedures, merchant accounts, access to finance, intellectual property, and which products sell in which international markets. Rather than offering generic guidance, the format allowed businesses to engage directly with the institutions responsible for each specific problem, including Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Federal Board of Revenue, Pakistan Single Window, Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Customs, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Pakistan Post, and the Pakistan Trade Portal, collapsing what would ordinarily require separate visits to separate offices into a single working day.

Alongside these institutional desks, private sector participants including DHL, TCS, Pakistan International Airlines, Airblue, JazzCash, The Bank of Punjab, SMSA, HBL, GAPIFI, and the PIFD Design and E-Commerce Centre rounded out the room, reflecting the reality that exporting successfully requires logistics, payments, and design support as much as regulatory clearance. Five startups from National Incubation Center Karachi took part directly, including Aitisal founded by Abdul Wahab Malik, Fulflit founded by Fawwad Haider, Conviyo founded by Anas Shaikh, Munafah.AI co-founded by Rameen Yahya Baig, and Cervana AI represented by Muhammad Saad Tariq, each building technology and digital solutions aimed at the evolving e-commerce and digital commerce ecosystem.

Organizers framed the pairing of design consultations at one table and freight logistics at the next as intentional rather than incidental, noting that a product has to be worth exporting before anything else in the room can meaningfully help it. NIC Karachi reported strong engagement from its startups throughout the day, with conversations turning into new client relationships, the kind of direct commercial outcome that distinguishes a working business clinic from a purely informational trade seminar. The clinics were held as part of GLOBE Pakistan 2026, organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan under the leadership of chief executive Faiz Ahmed Chadhar and director general services Rafia Syed, with support from Tech Destination Pakistan, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ignite National Technology Fund, LMKT, LuckyOne Mall, and Orbit Ventures.
