Hands-On Design Thinking Workshop at NIC Islamabad Empowers Cohort 4 Founders

Published on

NIC Islamabad recently hosted a two-day, hands-on Design Thinking workshop for its Cohort 4 founders, led by Samar Hasan. The sessions focused on human-centered innovation and practical problem-solving, providing founders with the tools and mindset to approach challenges creatively and iteratively.

The workshop began with foundational principles but quickly transitioned into applied exercises. Founders actively engaged with the design thinking framework, practicing empathy, defining and reframing problem statements, ideating solutions, building low-fidelity prototypes, and testing concepts through peer feedback. This hands-on approach encouraged participants to explore problems deeply, move beyond assumptions, and identify solutions grounded in real user needs.

A defining feature of the workshop was the high level of engagement. Discussions, reflections, and questions kept the sessions dynamic, emphasizing iterative learning and the value of feedback loops. Founders were encouraged to empathize with end-users, refine their approaches, and embrace experimentation without rushing to conclusions.

Through structured exercises and reflective practice, participants developed practical tools that can be directly applied within their ventures, across various industries and verticals. More than just learning a methodology, founders experienced a shift in problem-solving mindset, preparing them to approach challenges with creativity, empathy, and strategic clarity.

By the end of the two days, NIC Islamabad Cohort 4 founders had acquired both the practical skills and the cognitive frameworks necessary to implement design thinking within their startups. The workshop reinforced the center’s commitment to fostering innovation, supporting founder growth, and equipping entrepreneurs with approaches that extend far beyond the classroom.

With initiatives like these, NIC Islamabad continues to strengthen Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, bridging the gap between theory and practice and empowering founders to build scalable, user-centric ventures.
