The Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research at the Institute of Business Administration Karachi will hold a panel talk titled The Scale-Up Playbook: Customers, Capital, Operations and Growth today, Friday, 9 October, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The session will take place in LT Hall B at the IBA City Campus and is built around a question that most founders eventually face, which is what it really takes to scale a business. A great idea gets a company started, the organisers note, but it is the right decisions that carry it further, and scaling is about far more than simply growing bigger.
The conversation will focus on four areas that decide whether a young company turns early traction into sustainable growth: winning customers, securing capital, improving operations and making the difficult calls that turn ambition into results. Rather than offering theory, the session brings together people who have lived through the challenges of building and scaling businesses, and who can speak openly about what worked, what did not and what they would do differently. For students and early stage founders in the audience, the value lies in hearing how these decisions were made under real pressure, with real customers and real money at stake.
The panel features Ayesha Samie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lush Crush; Waqas Mohsin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Biowaste Energy Ventures Limited; Ziana Sakhia, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Bechlo; and Syed Ahsan Zaidy, Director of Finance and Supply Chain at Dipitt. Their backgrounds span consumer products, clean energy, online commerce and the finance and supply chain side of a growing company, which should give attendees a wide view of how scaling looks across different industries. Muhammad Hassan Khan, Associate Director at the Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research, will moderate the discussion and steer it through the themes of customers, capital, operations and growth.
Attendees have been asked to report by 2:45 PM, and networking tea will be served once the panel talk concludes, giving participants a chance to meet the speakers and fellow founders in person. Interested individuals can secure a place by completing the registration form ahead of the session. As the organisers put it, the next stage of growth needs more than ambition, and for those building companies in Pakistan, an afternoon spent with founders who have already made that climb may be a useful place to start.
