IBA CEDIR to Host Sessions on Data Room Readiness and Fundraising

Published on

Big ideas are exciting, but investor-ready businesses get funded, and this distinction is at the center of a set of sessions being held this week at IBA Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research. Founders will take part in practical sessions on Data Room Readiness and Fundraising and Investor Relations, addressing a gap that many early-stage founders encounter, where a genuinely strong business idea fails to attract investment simply because the underlying documentation and investor communication haven’t been prepared to the standard investors expect.

The sessions are led by professionals who work closely with startups, investors, and venture capital funds, giving participants guidance grounded in direct, practical experience with the fundraising process rather than purely theoretical business school frameworks. Agha Muhammad Hassaan Khan, Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation at Sindh Enterprise Incubation Center, brings a perspective shaped by working across the incubation and evaluation side of Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, while Mubariz Siddiqui, Lawyer and Founder of Carbon Law, contributes a legal lens to the sessions, an area founders often underestimate until they are deep into a fundraising process and encounter contractual or compliance complexities they weren’t prepared for.

The Data Room Readiness session specifically addresses one of the more overlooked but consequential aspects of fundraising, helping participants organise key business documents into the kind of structured, accessible format investors expect to review during due diligence. Poorly organised or incomplete data rooms can slow down or even derail an otherwise promising investment conversation, making this a genuinely practical skill for founders to develop well before they find themselves under time pressure during an active fundraising round. The accompanying session on Fundraising and Investor Relations builds on this foundation, helping participants prepare for investor conversations and better understand the broader fundraising process, from initial outreach through to closing a round.

Scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at IBA Karachi’s City Campus, the sessions add to IBA CEDIR’s ongoing programming aimed at giving founders practical, execution-focused skills rather than purely conceptual entrepreneurship education. By pairing an incubation-focused speaker with a legal expert working directly with startups, the sessions are structured to give participants a fairly comprehensive view of what investor readiness actually requires, spanning both the operational discipline of documentation and the legal considerations that shape how a fundraising round is ultimately structured and closed.
