IBM has opened a global call for proposals under its Impact Accelerator program, inviting nonprofit organizations, government entities, and academic institutions to submit ideas for artificial intelligence-driven initiatives aimed at expanding access to education and workforce development. The program, which carries no cost for participating organizations, offers a two-year engagement with IBM’s technology, expertise, and consulting teams — positioning it as one of the more substantive corporate social responsibility offerings in the technology sector.
The current cohort is focused specifically on learning and workforce systems, with IBM seeking proposals that help students, educators, and workers navigate an economy increasingly shaped by automation and digital transformation. Projects that stand out are those addressing how artificial intelligence can strengthen educational delivery, define clearer career pathways, or build more resilient workforce pipelines — particularly for communities facing economic and environmental stress.
IBM has outlined a broad range of project types it considers eligible, including artificial intelligence-enabled teaching models, lifelong learner assistants, predictive workforce analytics platforms, career and college navigation tools, workforce pipeline dashboards, artificial intelligence governance simulation labs, and system-wide scenario simulators. While artificial intelligence integration is not a hard requirement, IBM has signalled it is strongly preferred, particularly solutions that deploy artificial intelligence responsibly to expand opportunity rather than concentrate it.
Selected organizations will gain access to IBM’s full suite of enterprise technology, including IBM watsonx, IBM Granite artificial intelligence models, IBM Cloud, IBM Quantum Platform, and Red Hat open source technologies. Beyond tools, participants receive hands-on technical mentorship from IBM Consulting, IBM Research, and IBM Software teams throughout the two-year programme, with a view to building long-term internal capacity rather than creating dependency on external support.
IBM selects five organizations annually to form a cohort centred on a specific issue area. Past cohorts have worked on sustainable agriculture, clean energy, water management, resilient cities, and supply chains making workforce development and education the sixth thematic focus in the programme’s history. The selection process is open globally, meaning organizations from any region, including Pakistan, are eligible to apply. Proposals are evaluated on community impact, technological feasibility, sustainability of the proposed solution, and transparency in measurement and reporting.
The deadline for submissions was Wednesday, March 25, 2026, with finalists expected to be notified later in the spring. Organizations can submit proposals through the official IBM Impact Accelerator portal, and a downloadable toolkit is available on IBM’s website to guide applicants in shaping their strongest submission.
