Ignite Begins Sovereign Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Consultation to Shape Pakistan’s AI Ecosystem

Published on

Ignite has launched the first industry stakeholder consultation session under the Sovereign Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Initiative as part of the National AI Innovation Hub, bringing together key industry leaders to discuss the future of Pakistan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. The initiative marks a significant policy-level effort aimed at building a resilient and nationally aligned artificial intelligence infrastructure capable of supporting long-term innovation, digital transformation, and technological independence.

The consultation session was led by Zarrar Hasham Khan, Secretary Information Technology and Telecommunication, who outlined the strategic direction for strengthening sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities in Pakistan. The discussions focused on infrastructure readiness, computing capacity, data ecosystem requirements, and the broader framework needed to support artificial intelligence-driven growth across industries. The initiative reflects growing recognition of artificial intelligence as a national priority in economic and technological development.

Karachi hosted the first consultation in what will be a three-city engagement series, with additional sessions planned in Lahore and Islamabad. The phased consultation model is designed to gather input from technology companies, infrastructure providers, artificial intelligence firms, and ecosystem stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and practical approach to building Pakistan’s artificial intelligence framework. By involving multiple industry segments, the initiative aims to identify critical challenges and opportunities across the ecosystem.

Organised by Ignite under Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the Sovereign Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Initiative represents a broader move toward strengthening Pakistan’s digital capabilities through structured policy planning and ecosystem collaboration. The consultations are expected to shape future frameworks for artificial intelligence infrastructure, enabling stronger innovation capacity and supporting the country’s long-term ambition of becoming a more competitive technology-driven economy.
