Iqra University Launches IU CORE Cohort 4 Orientation Session

Published on

Iqra University welcomed the participants of IU CORE Cohort 4 during an Orientation Ceremony, marking the beginning of a new journey centered on mentorship, collaboration, and innovation for the incoming group of founders. The session was designed to introduce participants to the programme’s vision, objectives, and the opportunities available to them as they move from early-stage ideas toward building more structured, impactful ventures, giving the newly inducted cohort a clear sense of what the incubation process would involve before their formal work begins.

Manager of IU CORE and Program Head of SkillUp, Umair Ahmed Khan, shared highlights from the successes of previous IU CORE cohorts during the session, using those examples to illustrate the kind of outcomes past participants had achieved through the programme. He encouraged the newly inducted startups to make full use of the incubation facilities, mentorship access, and broader support systems provided by IU CORE, framing these resources as central to nurturing early-stage ventures and building toward long-term sustainability rather than short-term traction alone.

The orientation format itself reflects a fairly common approach among university-affiliated incubation programmes, where an initial ceremony serves less as a purely administrative formality and more as a way of setting expectations and building early cohesion among a new cohort of founders who will likely be working alongside one another throughout the programme. For participants, exposure to the track record of previous cohorts at this early stage can offer a useful benchmark for what sustained engagement with the programme’s mentorship and resources might eventually help them achieve.

With Cohort 4 now formally underway, IU CORE’s team expressed anticipation for the creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit the new cohort would bring as they take their next steps toward building sustainable startups. The orientation ceremony adds to a continuing pattern of Pakistani universities expanding their role beyond traditional academic instruction into direct startup incubation, positioning institutions like Iqra University as active participants in the country’s broader entrepreneurship ecosystem rather than passive contributors through research or coursework alone.
