KP Governor Visits NIC Peshawar to Meet Startup Founders

Published on

NIC Peshawar welcomed His Excellency the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, for a visit focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and the future of the province’s startup ecosystem. The visit gave the province’s top constitutional office holder direct exposure to the work being carried out by resident founders at NIC Peshawar, positioning the engagement as more than a ceremonial appearance and instead as an opportunity for the Governor to develop a firsthand understanding of the kind of ventures being incubated within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the visit, the Governor interacted directly with founders, exploring their ventures and gaining insight into the specific problems these companies are working to solve within the province’s economic and social context. This kind of direct interaction between provincial leadership and early-stage founders can carry meaningful weight for a regional startup ecosystem, since visible engagement from a Governor’s office signals a level of institutional recognition that can help attract further attention, whether from potential investors, partner organisations, or other government departments considering how to support entrepreneurship within the province.

Beyond meeting individual founders, the Governor also engaged with ecosystem partners and members of the business community present at the visit, giving him a broader view of the network of organisations supporting NIC Peshawar’s work rather than limiting the visit’s scope to the incubator’s resident startups alone. Startups highlighted during the visit included STEMverse, Soul Industries, and PQC Labs, giving the Governor exposure to a range of ventures operating across different sectors within the incubator’s current cohort.

The visit forms part of a broader pattern of government officials engaging directly with Pakistan’s regional incubation centres, reflecting growing recognition among provincial leadership of the economic potential tied to supporting local entrepreneurship rather than treating startup development as a concern limited to the country’s larger commercial hubs like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. NIC Peshawar’s ecosystem continues to be supported by a broad coalition of partners including Ignite National Technology Fund, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, LMKR, Accelerate Prosperity, Sybrid, IM Sciences, Rehman Medical Institute, CECOS University, and Frontier Platinum, reflecting the scale of institutional backing behind the incubator’s Cohort 15 programming and its broader mission of advancing entrepreneurship within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
