KP to Provide Interest Free Loans for Media Startups and Digital Platforms

Published on

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a new initiative to provide interest free loans for media startups, aiming to support journalists and encourage the development of independent digital media platforms across the province. The initiative is intended to help young media professionals establish their own ventures while improving access to financial support for emerging media businesses.

According to Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the program is being introduced under the vision of former prime minister Imran Khan with a focus on creating practical opportunities for journalists and media entrepreneurs. The proposed scheme includes interest free financing designed to facilitate the establishment of independent media houses and digital journalism platforms operating within the province.

The provincial government stated that the initiative is expected to contribute toward employment generation while also encouraging greater professional independence within the media sector. Officials believe easier access to financing could help journalists and content creators develop sustainable media ventures without relying entirely on traditional institutional structures.

The announcement also forms part of a broader development strategy being prepared by the provincial government covering media, information technology, and related sectors. The move reflects increasing attention toward digital entrepreneurship and independent content platforms as provincial authorities continue exploring policies aimed at supporting innovation and youth driven business initiatives in Pakistan’s evolving digital economy.
