The National Incubation Center Peshawar has begun needs assessments for the startups in its Cohort 16, opening the new cohort’s program with a round of one on one conversations. The center described the exercise with a simple principle: meaningful support starts with listening. The sessions are focused on each startup’s challenges, priorities, and growth goals, and they give the center a clear picture of where each founder stands before the program’s work begins in earnest.
The conversations are meant to shape the support that follows. The center said the findings will help it tailor mentorship, training, and resources to what its founders actually need to move forward, rather than offering every startup the same package. Early stage companies differ widely in what holds them back. One team may need help with its first customers, another with its product design, and another with finances or hiring. By asking each founder about these matters directly, the center can match a startup with the right mentor, plan training around real gaps, and spend its limited resources where they will count most.
The approach also gives founders a voice in the program from the start. Needs assessments of this kind tend to surface issues that founders may not raise in group settings, such as concerns about a cofounder, uncertainty about pricing, or pressure from investors. Handled well, they build trust between the center’s team and the startups, which can make later coaching more candid and more useful. The center shared a closer look at the sessions as part of its announcement, describing them as the conversations shaping the founders’ journey at the center.
The National Incubation Center Peshawar is funded by Ignite and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and supports startups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through coaching, workspace, business training, and introductions to investors. The announcement did not say how many startups are in Cohort 16, which sectors they represent, or how long the assessment phase will last. What it made clear is that the center treats this stage as the foundation for the rest of the program. With the assessments underway, the next steps will be the mentorship sessions, trainings, and resources built around what the founders said they need.
