NIC Hyderabad Hosts Business Validation And Pitching Session With Yumna Iftikhar

Published on

National Incubation Center Hyderabad is hosting an interactive session with Yumna Iftikhar, manager at the Center for Entrepreneurial Development at IBA Karachi, built around a question many founders skip past too quickly on their way to building something: what actually separates a good idea from a startup capable of surviving contact with a real market. The session frames a business model that works, a market that genuinely wants the product, and a pitch sharp enough to hold attention as the three components that determine whether an idea becomes a viable company, treating each as a distinct skill rather than something that follows naturally once the product itself is built.

Yumna Iftikhar’s session will dive into what it takes to build and validate a business from the ground up, an area where many early founders move too quickly from idea to execution without first testing whether the assumptions underpinning their business actually hold. Validation in this sense goes beyond simply asking potential customers whether they like an idea, requiring founders to test willingness to pay, actual usage patterns, and whether early interest translates into behavior rather than polite encouragement, distinctions that often separate startups that survive their first year from those that do not.

The session will also address understanding a business’s commercial potential, pushing founders to think rigorously about whether a genuinely good idea can also become a genuinely sustainable business, since the two do not always align in the way founders initially assume. Pitching effectively rounds out the session’s focus, treating the ability to communicate a business clearly and persuasively as a skill distinct from building the business itself, one that founders often underinvest in relative to how much time they spend on product development. Organizers frame the entire session around a single foundational question founders must be able to answer before they ever step into a pitch, namely why their business should exist at all, a question that forces founders to justify their venture on its own terms rather than through comparison to competitors or general market trends.

Interested founders can register through this link to attend the session. The event is supported by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ignite National Technology Fund, PTCL, LMKT, and Tech Destination Pakistan, adding to National Incubation Center Hyderabad’s ongoing curriculum of sessions connecting founders with practitioners from academia and industry across the region’s startup ecosystem.
