NIC Hyderabad Startups at Indus Hospital | Pitching Sessions and Healthcare Industry Exposure 2026

Published on

National Incubation Center Hyderabad was hosted by Shakeel Akhter, Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology at The Indus Hospital and Health Network, for a full day of industry immersion that gave the centre’s startups direct access to one of Pakistan’s most consequential healthcare institutions.

The visit was structured around three distinct experiences that together offered something rarely available to early-stage founders: unfiltered access to industry leaders who encounter the problems these startups are trying to solve on a daily basis, a live pitching environment in front of seasoned professionals, and a guided tour of the hospital’s operational facilities. The combination made for an unusually grounded day, one that placed founders inside the very environment their products and services are designed to serve.

Interactions ranged from one-on-one conversations with members of The Indus Hospital and Health Network team to five-minute pitches delivered before a room of experienced practitioners. Each format demanded a different kind of clarity from the founders, the informal exchanges required them to articulate their value proposition conversationally, while the structured pitches called for precision under time pressure and in front of an audience with direct knowledge of the domain.

Seeing the hospital’s operations up close added a dimension that classroom-based mentorship cannot replicate. Understanding how a large-scale healthcare institution actually functions its procurement decisions, its information systems, its patient flow, gives founders building in the health technology space a richer and more accurate picture of the environment they are trying to improve.

The day reflected what NIC Hyderabad described as the kind of bridge between industry, academia, and entrepreneurship that is talked about frequently but realised less often made possible in this case by individuals willing to invest time and institutional access in the next generation of builders. The visit was supported by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ignite — National Technology Fund, PTCL, LMKT, and Tech Destination Pakistan.
