NIC Hyderabad visited Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) as part of its outreach activities for the upcoming Cohort 10, engaging students from five academic departments. The visit included students from Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Systems, Electronics, and Environmental Engineering. The engagement aimed to introduce students to entrepreneurship and encourage them to consider how their academic knowledge could be applied to practical problems through innovative business ideas. By interacting with students from different engineering disciplines, the NIC Hyderabad team highlighted the potential for ideas emerging from various fields of study to develop into business ventures. The visit also formed part of the organisation’s efforts to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs ahead of its next startup programme.
The NIC Hyderabad team was accompanied by Engr. Muhammad Faizan Qureshi, Co-founder of Pak Bio Energy, a startup associated with NIC Hyderabad. During the visit, Qureshi shared his entrepreneurial journey and discussed his experience from a founder’s perspective. His participation provided students with an opportunity to hear about entrepreneurship from someone involved in building a startup. The discussion introduced a practical perspective on the process of developing ideas and exploring business opportunities, allowing students to connect their academic learning with experiences from the startup environment. His involvement also highlighted the role of existing startup founders in sharing knowledge and experiences with students who may be interested in pursuing entrepreneurship.
The engagement encouraged students to examine their academic knowledge through an entrepreneurial perspective and identify problems that could potentially be addressed through new solutions. Students from the five participating departments were encouraged to consider the practical applications of their respective fields and explore how technical knowledge could be translated into viable business ideas. The discussions highlighted that innovation is not limited to software or electronics but can also emerge from areas such as telecommunications, computer systems, and environmental engineering. By introducing this approach, the visit aimed to encourage students to look beyond conventional academic applications and consider opportunities for developing ventures based on challenges within their fields.
The visit to Mehran University also supported NIC Hyderabad’s preparations for its upcoming Cohort 10 by creating awareness about entrepreneurship and the opportunities available within its startup community. Through outreach activities at educational institutions, the organisation is engaging with students who may have ideas or technical knowledge that could form the basis of future ventures. The participation of an existing startup founder further provided students with exposure to the entrepreneurial experience and encouraged them to consider the possibilities of turning their ideas into businesses. NIC Hyderabad continues its efforts to connect academic communities with the startup ecosystem and introduce aspiring entrepreneurs to opportunities for developing their ventures.
