NIC Islamabad Founder Institute Holds Investor Progress Review Cohort 5

Published on

NIC Islamabad’s Founder Institute Cohort 5 founders stepped into the Investor Progress Review, a two day experience designed to help them assess their progress through an investor’s lens. The format gave founders a structured opportunity to evaluate their ventures with the same rigour and criteria typically applied by actual investors, rather than relying solely on internal or peer feedback.

Each founder presented their venture in a five minute investor-style session, followed by mentor questions, scoring, and strategic feedback. This time constrained format mirrors the reality many founders eventually face when pitching to real investors, where the ability to communicate a venture’s value concisely often determines whether a conversation continues beyond the initial meeting.

The review challenged founders to look beyond what they have built so far and evaluate the strength of their product, market opportunity, business model, and overall readiness for future fundraising. This comprehensive evaluation framework pushed founders to assess their ventures across multiple dimensions simultaneously, rather than focusing narrowly on product development alone without considering the broader commercial viability of their business.

More than an evaluation, the session gave founders an opportunity to identify gaps, gain valuable insights from experienced mentors, and understand what needs to be strengthened as they continue building their ventures. This developmental framing positions the Investor Progress Review as a formative exercise intended to guide founders’ subsequent work, rather than purely serving as a pass or fail assessment.

The event drew mentor participation from Salar Malik, Khuram Idrees, Karin Jork-Wellbrock, Salman Ahmed, Umair Sheikh, Ahsan Gaylani, Hasnain Kazmi, Kamil Aziz, Asim Ghaffar, Merai Syed, and Shahzaib Z, reflecting a substantial mentor bench brought together specifically for this milestone. The event was supported by Ministry Of IT and Telecommunication, Tech Destination Pakistan, and Ignite National Technology Fund, reflecting the institutional network tied to NIC Islamabad’s Founder Institute programming, with the Investor Progress Review marking a significant milestone in helping Cohort 5 founders refine their businesses and move one step closer to what comes next in their entrepreneurial journey.
