NIC Karachi Hosts Junoon Masterclass With Imran Batoaq on Founder Mindset

Published on

NIC Karachi successfully hosted the masterclass titled Junoon: The Fire Within, led by Imran Batoaq, Head of Sales at YOTTABYTE, bringing together startup founders for a session that moved well beyond the operational mechanics of building a company and into the inner landscape of what sustains a founder through the sustained difficulty that building anything meaningful actually requires. The session drew on Batoaq’s direct professional experience to explore the mindset, discipline, and persistence that separate founders who stay in the fight long enough to produce lasting impact from those who disengage when the difficulty intensifies.

The session opened a conversation that most startup programming leaves largely unaddressed. The technical dimensions of building a company, product development, customer acquisition, fundraising, and financial management, receive significant attention across incubation curricula and founder education platforms. What receives far less structured attention is the internal dimension of entrepreneurship, the quality of commitment, the ability to maintain clarity of purpose when external circumstances create pressure to abandon or compromise, and the discipline to show up consistently when the feedback from the market, investors, or partners is discouraging rather than affirming. Batoaq’s masterclass centred precisely on this territory, treating it with the same seriousness that more tangible startup skills typically receive.

Through engaging discussions and real-world examples drawn from his own experience navigating the demands of a high-performance sales career, Batoaq explored the role of purpose-driven leadership in giving a founder’s work the kind of meaning that sustains motivation through the inevitable periods when external validation is absent. The distinction between founders who are driven by a genuine sense of purpose and those who are primarily motivated by the idea of entrepreneurship as an identity or a destination is one that becomes visible and consequential in the moments of real difficulty, and the session helped participants examine honestly which category their own motivation fell into and what that meant for how they approached the work ahead. Discussions on overcoming challenges and maintaining momentum gave founders a practical framework for understanding how to design their own resilience rather than treating it as a fixed personality trait they either have or lack.

The masterclass reinforced a message that is easy to articulate but difficult to internalise under pressure, that long-term success in entrepreneurship is built not through any single breakthrough moment but through the accumulated effect of showing up consistently with discipline and purpose across the unglamorous stretches of the journey that do not make it into success stories. For the NIC Karachi founders who participated, the session delivered something that complements the technical and commercial knowledge they are building through the incubation programme, a more honest and grounded understanding of what the entrepreneurial journey actually demands from the person at the centre of it and what it takes to meet those demands without burning out or losing direction. Supported by Ignite and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication alongside partners including Tech Destination Pakistan, LMKT, LuckyOne Mall, and Orbit Ventures, NIC Karachi continues to build a programme that develops founders as complete individuals rather than simply as operators of early-stage businesses.
