The National Incubation Center (NIC) Karachi has launched its 13th cohort, inducting 40 innovative startups selected from a highly competitive pool of 618 applicants. The latest cohort represents a vibrant cross-section of Pakistan’s growing startup ecosystem, with ventures spanning sectors like FinTech, Cybersecurity, Industrial Automation, Artificial Intelligence, HealthTech, and more. Impressively, more than 30 percent of the selected startups are female-led, reinforcing NIC Karachi’s commitment to promoting gender diversity in entrepreneurship.
The selection process for this cohort was rigorous and involved multiple rounds of pitching and evaluation. A total of 133 shortlisted startups presented their business ideas to a panel of over 60 industry experts. Key stakeholders, including representatives from Ignite, Yunus Brothers Group (YB Group), and the State Bank of Pakistan, observed and participated in the evaluation sessions, ensuring a comprehensive and merit-driven selection process.
The 40 chosen startups represent some of the most promising solutions tackling real-world challenges with a technology-first approach. Notable names among the selected ventures include Sparktrum, operating in AI and Big Data; Block Guard and Vigilant 360 in the Cybersecurity domain; Asaanghar, Naught.0, and Scounts.pk in FinTech; and Electric Ark in CleanTech. HealthTech startups like Medentec, HealthyTune, and MiteXpert are also part of the cohort, addressing gaps in digital health access and chronic disease management. The diverse range also includes TravelTech players such as Qayamgah and Raahi, HRTech platforms like Vorker, SaaS providers like Cloud Call Pakistan, and EdTech innovators such as Coursemon and Inclusive Destiny.
Adeel Aijaz Shaikh, CEO of Ignite, acknowledged NIC Karachi’s crucial role in catalyzing innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. He highlighted how such initiatives not only support the startup ecosystem but also contribute to broader economic development by nurturing businesses that create jobs and generate value. Echoing this sentiment, Ali Sohail Tabba, Chairman of NIC Karachi’s Governance Committee, emphasized the transformative power of these startups and promised robust industry mentorship and strategic guidance to help them scale.
