InvestLab 4.0 brought prospective investors together at NIC Peshawar for three days of learning, discussion and direct engagement with startups, continuing the incubator’s effort to build a stronger base of early stage investors in the region. The programme gave participants a structured environment to develop their understanding of startup investing, moving beyond theory into direct interaction with the founders and ventures they might one day back.
The sessions were led by Maria Carolina Romero, with legal insights contributed by Barrister Ahmed Uzair, giving participants both a practical and a legal lens on the investment process. Through the three days, participants explored how to assess opportunities, ask the right questions and understand what actually goes into an investment decision, covering ground that is often learned only through costly trial and error outside a structured setting like this one. Participants also heard founders pitch the solutions they are building, giving them a direct opportunity to apply what they had just learned against real ventures rather than hypothetical scenarios.
NIC Peshawar framed the programme around a specific need in the local ecosystem: investors who understand early stage businesses and can bring guidance and connections alongside their capital, rather than capital alone. InvestLab is positioned as the mechanism through which more people can take that first step into startup investing, lowering the barrier for individuals who may have capital to deploy but lack the frameworks and confidence to evaluate early stage opportunities on their own.
The cohort for InvestLab 4.0 included Tahira Kaleem, Aamir Saeed, Bilal Anjum, Hussain Ahmad Khan, Sami Syed, Saba Durrani, Amna Durrani, Taqi Hyder, Abdul Wahid and Arshad Afridi. NIC Peshawar has already signaled that InvestLab 5.0 is on the way for those interested in startup investing, continuing a programme that draws support from Ignite National Technology Fund, LMKT, Orbit Ventures, Accelerate Prosperity, Sybrid, IM Sciences, Rehman Medical Institute, CECOS University and Frontier Platinum.
