launching the Mera Sehat Card mobile application. This initiative, spearheaded by the Health Ministry in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), aims to provide residents with seamless access to healthcare services. The app will benefit 8.4 million individuals, including 2.5 million families, offering universal healthcare coverage across Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Azad Kashmir (AJK), and Tharparkar, Sindh.

The Mera Sehat Card app offers comprehensive features, such as treatment history, family details, and balance tracking, empowering users to make informed decisions regarding their healthcare needs. This launch builds on the universal health coverage provided under the Sehat Sahulat Program established in 2016. Residents can now access basic healthcare services using their computerized national identity cards (CNICs), ensuring ease of use and eliminating financial burdens associated with healthcare.

Revolutionizing Healthcare through Technology

Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Interim Health Minister, emphasized the transformative potential of technology during the app’s launch at NADRA Headquarters. Highlighting the government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools for healthcare, he noted that the Sehat Sahulat Program has been at the forefront of integrating digital solutions since its inception. According to Dr. Jan, this collaboration with NADRA has facilitated widespread access to healthcare for citizens while simplifying their experience through their CNICs.

Speaking at the event, Sajid Shah, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson, underscored the app’s potential to revolutionize healthcare in Pakistan. The Mera Sehat Card app provides a range of features, including easy verification of beneficiaries’ healthcare entitlements through one-time passcode (OTP) verification. In addition, a digital version of the Qaumi Sehat Card is available, along with access to records of past medical treatments, a list of covered therapies, and a directory of empaneled healthcare institutions.

User-Friendly Features for Seamless Healthcare Access

The mobile app integrates several practical tools designed to improve the user experience. Beneficiaries can monitor their healthcare benefits, track remaining balances, and access information about family members with ease. A frequently asked questions (FAQ) section has been incorporated to address common concerns, while Google Maps integration assists users in locating healthcare institutions, offering greater convenience.

With Pakistan’s healthcare landscape evolving rapidly, the launch of the Mera Sehat Card app signifies a step forward in modernizing access to essential services. The app serves as a digital solution that simplifies healthcare for millions of residents, particularly those in underprivileged regions like GB, AJK, and Tharparkar.

Conclusion: A New Chapter in Healthcare Digitalization

As of October 2023, the launch of the Mera Sehat Card app stands as a testament to Pakistan’s efforts to embrace technology for public welfare. This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to expanding healthcare access while ensuring financial transparency and efficiency. By integrating digital services into the healthcare ecosystem, Pakistan aims to create a more equitable, accessible, and user-friendly healthcare experience for all its citizens.
