A major milestone has been reached in Pakistan’s growing tech startup ecosystem, as VoltShare, a NIC Lahore-incubated company led by entrepreneur Umair Atta, has secured a six-figure investment from a Canadian investor. The startup is now expanding its operations into North America through Canada’s prestigious Startup Visa Program, marking a significant leap from a local incubator project to a global player in the clean energy sector.

VoltShare has been on a mission to reshape electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with an innovative, community-driven model. From its early days digitizing Pakistan’s trucking sector to its latest strides in international expansion, the startup exemplifies how homegrown innovation can scale beyond borders and contribute to solving global challenges.

The investment and expansion come as Pakistan continues to strengthen its support for startups through the Ministry of IT and Telecom and Ignite – National Technology Fund. Backed by these key institutions, VoltShare is among the success stories demonstrating how Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem can nurture companies with the vision and capability to compete on a global stage.

The Canadian funding will allow VoltShare to accelerate the development of its EV charging solutions while bringing its model to North American markets where the demand for sustainable energy infrastructure continues to grow. Through the Startup Visa Program, VoltShare gains not only financial backing but also access to mentorship, market networks, and strategic partnerships crucial for scaling operations abroad.

Umair Atta, founder and CEO of VoltShare, has been a driving force behind the company’s growth. Under his leadership, VoltShare has introduced a bold approach that combines technology, community engagement, and sustainability to address critical gaps in EV charging infrastructure. The North American expansion represents both recognition of the startup’s potential and a new chapter in its journey toward making clean energy more accessible.

The achievement was celebrated widely across Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, with prominent industry figures, institutions, and organizations extending their support. Among those expressing pride in VoltShare’s accomplishment were representatives from Tech Destination Pakistan, NETSOL Technologies, HBL, Beaconhouse National University, Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Plug and Play Tech Center, and Accelerate Prosperity, among others. Their acknowledgment highlights the collaborative ecosystem that has nurtured VoltShare’s journey.

NIC Lahore, which has incubated numerous successful startups, emphasized the significance of VoltShare’s expansion as a case study in how incubation, mentorship, and institutional support can translate into tangible global success. With a focus on clean technology and sustainable innovation, VoltShare’s progress reinforces Pakistan’s growing reputation as a source of impactful, high-tech solutions.

The Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan and Ignite have played central roles in supporting such ventures. Through policies and funding initiatives designed to empower entrepreneurs, they continue to provide the foundation for startups to innovate, grow, and expand beyond Pakistan’s borders. VoltShare’s latest milestone is a direct reflection of these efforts paying off.

As the world accelerates its shift toward electric vehicles, VoltShare’s entry into the North American market comes at an opportune moment. The startup aims to demonstrate how community-focused, tech-enabled solutions can make EV charging more efficient, accessible, and sustainable. With fresh investment, global exposure, and institutional backing, VoltShare is positioned to make a lasting impact on the future of clean energy.
