Rewiring Rights Hackathon 2025 to Uplift Pakistan’s Judicial System Kicks Off at NICAT Rawalpindi

A unique hackathon aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s judicial system will take place later this month in Rawalpindi. Titled Rewiring Rights – A Hackathon to Uplift Pakistan’s Judicial System, the three-day event will be held at NICAT from September 26–28, 2025, with applications open until September 20.

The initiative is jointly organized by UNDP, National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR), Accelerate Prosperity (AP), OVentures, and NICAT, bringing together multiple institutions committed to governance reform, innovation, and entrepreneurship. By combining expertise from development, civic rights, and technology sectors, the hackathon aims to create an inclusive platform for young people across Pakistan to explore how digital solutions can address challenges in justice delivery.

Participants aged 18–30 from diverse regions of the country are encouraged to apply and become part of a collaborative experience that will focus on rethinking access to justice. Over three days, teams will brainstorm, design, and present innovative ideas that could contribute to addressing systemic issues such as judicial pendency, coordination inefficiencies, and limited public service delivery.

The event will feature mentorship and guidance from legal experts, technologists, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders. This structure ensures that young participants receive the right mix of technical support, legal insights, and entrepreneurial know-how to refine their solutions into practical, scalable concepts. Mentorship will also help participants explore how technology can reduce inefficiencies, bridge communication gaps, and increase transparency in Pakistan’s judicial system.

Hackathons like Rewiring Rights serve as a bridge between technology-driven innovation and social reform. By focusing on judicial challenges, the organizers are creating space for ideas that not only leverage digital tools but also emphasize inclusivity, fairness, and public accountability. For many of the participants, it will be an opportunity to learn by doing—working in teams, building prototypes, and engaging directly with thought leaders in law and technology.

The collaboration between UNDP, NCHR, AP, OVentures, and NICAT reflects a shared commitment to making justice more accessible to citizens. It also demonstrates how institutions can come together to create youth-focused interventions that drive systemic change while fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

For young changemakers across Pakistan, this hackathon represents a chance to contribute directly to strengthening governance and justice delivery. With the potential to transform how citizens interact with the judicial system, the event could serve as a launchpad for ideas that combine civic responsibility with technological creativity.
