SECP Reports 4,761 New Company Registrations Across Pakistan in August

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan registered 4,761 new companies during August 2026, bringing the total number of registered companies in the country to 311,765. The commission said nearly all registrations, 99.9 percent, were completed online through integrated federal and provincial systems supported by the eZfile portal, underscoring how far digital incorporation has replaced manual filing processes across Pakistan’s corporate registry.

Private companies made up the largest share of new incorporations at 2,762, or just over 58 percent of the month’s total, followed by 1,846 Single Member Companies at nearly 39 percent. The remaining registrations were split across 113 Limited Liability Partnerships, 28 Not-for-Profit companies, and 12 other entities including public companies, foreign companies, and trade organizations. The distribution suggests that smaller, founder-led structures continue to dominate new business formation in Pakistan, a pattern consistent with a market where solo entrepreneurship and small partnerships remain the default entry point into formal business activity.

Regionally, Punjab accounted for more than half of all new registrations at 2,547, followed by Islamabad Capital Territory with 843 and Sindh with 702. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan trailed with smaller shares, a distribution that broadly mirrors the concentration of economic activity and formal business infrastructure in Pakistan’s more urbanized provinces.

By sector, Information Technology led with 872 new companies, ahead of Trading at 732 and Services at 601. Construction, Tourism, Food and Beverages, E-Commerce, Real Estate Development, Education, and Mining and Quarrying rounded out the top ten sectors, with a further 1,286 companies spread across other categories. The IT sector’s lead is notable given the sustained attention Pakistan’s policymakers and incubators have placed on technology entrepreneurship over the past several years, suggesting that formal registration activity is beginning to reflect that focus.

August also saw participation from 134 foreign investors across several countries, with 106 of them coming from China, continuing a trend of Chinese capital involvement in newly incorporated Pakistani companies. SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said the continued rise in corporate registrations reflects growing trust among entrepreneurs and investors in Pakistan’s regulatory framework, pointing to the digital transformation initiatives underpinning the registration process as a contributing factor.
