SEDF Holds Enterprise Grant Awareness Session In Thatta

Published on

SEDF held an Enterprise Grant Awareness Session in Thatta, working alongside UNIDO under the European Union funded PAIDAR Programme, which stands for Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Development Across Rural Sindh. The session brought together more than 100 entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, potential applicants and local stakeholders, giving the Enterprise Grant Scheme direct visibility among business owners operating in a rural district that might otherwise have limited access to information about such funding opportunities.

The session was designed to help participants understand the grant itself, along with its eligibility criteria, application process and key requirements, addressing the practical barriers that often prevent eligible small businesses from applying to formal grant programmes even when they qualify. Many enterprise grant schemes in Pakistan face a persistent gap between funding availability and awareness at the local level, particularly in rural areas where formal information channels reach fewer prospective applicants than in major urban centres.

An interactive question and answer segment allowed participants to address their specific queries directly with session organisers, giving attendees a chance to clarify details relevant to their individual businesses rather than relying solely on general programme information. This kind of direct engagement can be particularly valuable for first time grant applicants who may be unfamiliar with the documentation and process requirements typically involved in formal grant applications.

The PAIDAR Programme’s focus on poverty alleviation and inclusive development across rural Sindh positions the Enterprise Grant Scheme as one component of a broader European Union backed effort to support economic development in less urbanised parts of the province. Bringing UNIDO into the session alongside SEDF reflects the kind of multilateral institutional collaboration often involved in programmes aimed at channelling international development funding toward local economic activity.

The turnout of over 100 participants in Thatta suggests significant local interest in the Enterprise Grant Scheme, and sessions of this kind, held directly in smaller cities and districts rather than centralised in provincial capitals, reflect a deliberate strategy to extend awareness of formal business support programmes beyond Pakistan’s major urban centres and into rural communities where SMEs may have fewer existing channels for accessing this kind of information.
