SEIC conducted a session on unit economics and margins for founders enrolled in its Cohort 2 programme, as part of its ongoing efforts to build the business skills of early-stage entrepreneurs. The session was led by Dr. Syed Sharjeel Ahmad Hasnie, Assistant Professor at IBA, and was organized in collaboration with the IBA Center of Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research.
The session focused on helping founders understand the economics of their businesses, evaluate profit margins and make informed financial decisions. For early-stage startups, a clear view of what it costs to acquire, serve and retain each customer, set against the revenue each one generates, is often what separates a venture that can scale sustainably from one that grows without becoming profitable.
By bringing an academic practitioner into the programme, SEIC is pairing the hands-on experience founders gain through incubation with structured financial training. Sessions of this kind give entrepreneurs a framework for testing their pricing, cost structures and growth assumptions before committing further resources, which is particularly relevant for founders who are still shaping their business models.
The programme operates with the involvement of SITD Government of Sindh, Sapphire Consulting Services and HUM Network, all of which were acknowledged in the announcement alongside IBA CEDIR. The session adds to the capacity-building activities SEIC is running for its second cohort, which are intended to help founders approach growth with greater financial clarity.
