Sindh Enterprise Incubation Center is hosting a session on Customer Profiling and Ideal Customer Profile Analysis today, Monday, 12 October, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at its Catalyst Hall. The session is led by Zainab Faisal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Connect, and it is held in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurial Development, Innovation and Research at the Institute of Business Administration Karachi. It is designed for the founders of Cohort 2, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their target customers, identify their ideal customer profiles and develop a more focused approach to reaching the right audience.
The topic addresses one of the most common problems among early stage startups, which is trying to sell to everyone at once. An ideal customer profile describes the type of customer who gets the most value from a product and is most likely to buy it, pay for it and stay, and defining it early helps founders decide where to spend limited time and money. Customer profiling goes a step further by studying who these customers are, how they behave and what problems they are trying to solve. Founders who complete this work usually find it easier to shape their product, set prices, choose sales channels and write messages that speak to a specific group instead of the whole market.
Zainab Faisal brings experience in consumer research and market insight through Consumer Connect, a company based in Karachi, and she is an alumna of the Institute of Business Administration. She also joined the panel of industry experts at the final pitching round of Cohort 2 at the incubator, where founders presented their ventures, which means she is already familiar with the startups she will work with in the session. The session builds on the Cohort 2 programme that the incubator has been running for its selected founders.
Sindh Enterprise Incubation Center was set up by the Science and Information Technology Department of the Government of Sindh and is run together with Sapphire Consulting Services and HUM Network. It presents itself as the provincial government’s first startup incubation initiative and has held open houses in Hyderabad and Nawabshah to reach founders beyond Karachi. Sessions on topics such as customer profiling form part of the practical training that founders receive during the programme, and they are intended to help each startup move from an idea to a clear plan for finding and keeping its first customers.
