Irverde-Gogreen has received the Leadership and Commitment Award at the 2026 UN Women Pakistan Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards, in recognition of its work to create opportunities for women in Pakistan’s circular economy. The company announced the win in a post describing it as a proud milestone, and said it was honoured to be named a winner in one of the award categories. The announcement did not say how many companies were nominated, what the selection criteria were or where the awards ceremony was held.
According to the company, Irverde was built on a vision of helping more women to thrive within Pakistan’s circular economy. It said its work has included empowering women in indigenous communities and creating employment opportunities for women within its own operations, with the aim of making sustainability more inclusive. The award is especially meaningful to the company because of this focus, and it noted that it received the recognition while sitting among some of the leading companies and industries in Pakistan and seeing the work that they are doing. For a young company in a sector such as recycling and waste management, where women’s participation has historically been limited, recognition of this kind can help show that inclusion can be part of the business model from the start.
The company also expressed gratitude to the women who have been the strength of its journey, as well as to the men who have stood beside it, supported it and believed in its vision. The post named a number of individuals, among them Jehan Ara, Reshma Aftab, Nida Athar, Tasneem Mirza, Miriam Kugele, Faizan Laghari, Urooj Zia, Muhammad Kashif Rasheed, Rehan Shaikh and M. Nasar Hashim, though it did not explain what role each person played. Irverde-Gogreen said it has come a long way but described the award as just the beginning.
