TechOne, the dedicated incubation center operating within NUST Science and Technology Park, has been ranked the number one startup incubator in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission for the fifth consecutive year, covering the period from 2021 through 2025. The recognition came with a validated score of 94 percent, placing TechOne in the W Category, which HEC designates for top-performing incubation centers, and positioning it above business incubation centers across the country in what is the most authoritative national assessment of incubator performance conducted by a public institution in Pakistan.
The score itself carries weight beyond the ranking. A validated figure of 94 percent, assessed against a standardized framework that evaluates incubators on the quality of their programming, the viability of their resident startups, the depth of their mentorship and support infrastructure, and their measurable contribution to the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem, is not a number that accumulates by accident. It reflects the compounding effect of consistent institutional investment in building an environment where technology-focused founders have access to the resources, networks, and technical proximity that early-stage companies building in complex domains genuinely require. For TechOne, housed within NSTP and affiliated with the National University of Sciences and Technology, that proximity to research infrastructure and technical talent has been a defining advantage from the outset.
The portfolio that sits inside TechOne today gives texture to what that environment has produced. More than 70 active startups are currently working across domains including artificial intelligence, deep tech, clean energy, health technology, and agriculture technology, collectively employing more than 5,000 high-tech professionals. That employment figure is significant in a national context where the creation of skilled technology jobs remains one of the more pressing economic priorities, and where incubation centers are increasingly being evaluated not just on the companies they produce but on the quality and scale of employment those companies generate. The breadth of sectors represented within the active portfolio also reflects a deliberate strategy to avoid concentrating incubation support in a single vertical, ensuring that TechOne remains relevant across the shifting landscape of where technology is creating the most urgent opportunities for impact.
The graduation numbers add a longer historical dimension to the story. More than 400 startups have passed through TechOne since its establishment, with companies emerging from its flagship Hatch 8 program achieving a combined Annual Recurring Revenue exceeding 200 million US dollars. That figure, taken across an alumni base built over several years of programming, speaks to the durability of what TechOne has been building rather than the performance of any single cohort or any single moment. It also provides a counterpoint to the broader concern that incubation in Pakistan produces companies that perform well within structured programs but struggle to sustain meaningful commercial traction once they exit. The revenue figures from Hatch 8 graduates suggest a different pattern.
HEC’s broader report on Pakistan’s incubation ecosystem notes substantial growth nationally in startup development, investment attraction, and job creation, trends that position the country’s incubation infrastructure as a genuine contributor to economic activity rather than a peripheral academic exercise. Within that national picture, NSTP’s leading position in the evaluation places it at the centre of the conversation about what effective incubation looks like in a developing market context, and what it takes to build an institution that consistently produces outcomes rather than activity. For the startups, stakeholders, and the NSTP team whose sustained effort over five years has made this recognition possible, the fifth consecutive ranking is both a validation of what has been built and a baseline for what comes next.
