NIC Karachi recently hosted an awareness session as part of Communication Reset 2.0, a two hour workshop focused on communication skills, organised by Qalmi in collaboration with Evenmatix. The session was held at The Hunar Foundation, bringing NIC Karachi’s incubation ecosystem into direct contact with a broader student audience beyond its typical founder focused programming.
The session, featuring M Areeb Sheikh, focused on practical communication techniques and strategies to help students communicate with greater clarity, confidence, and impact. Rather than covering communication skills in the abstract, the workshop appears to have emphasised concrete, applicable techniques students could use immediately in academic, professional, or personal contexts, reflecting a hands on approach to skill building.
Students actively participated throughout the workshop, sharing their experiences and providing encouraging feedback, suggesting the session was structured to be interactive rather than purely lecture based. This level of engagement points to a workshop format designed to hold students’ attention and encourage practical application rather than passive listening, an approach that tends to be more effective for skill based training such as communication.
Beyond the core communication skills content, the session also introduced students to NIC Karachi and the opportunities available through its entrepreneurial ecosystem, inspiring them to explore future learning and entrepreneurship opportunities. This dual purpose, combining practical skill building with broader exposure to entrepreneurship pathways, reflects NIC Karachi’s continued effort to build awareness of its programmes among younger audiences who may not yet be actively considering entrepreneurship as a career path.
The event was supported by Tech Destination Pakistan, Ministry Of IT and Telecommunication, Ignite National Technology Fund, LMKT, LuckyOne Mall, and Orbit Ventures, reflecting the institutional network tied to NIC Karachi’s Cohort 16 programming. The workshop adds to NIC Karachi’s broader engagement activities aimed at reaching students beyond its immediate cohort of incubated startups, positioning the organisation as an accessible entry point for young people interested in developing both practical life skills and future entrepreneurial ambitions.
